Campsites in Brittany

Nestled in the north west of France the coastal region of Brittany has a distinctly Celtic feel. Having experienced a turbulent history dating from 600BC when the Gauls first arrived in the region, the landscape of Brittany has been shaped by the imprints of its changing rulers. The Celts left behind a fascinating legacy of stone monuments, monoliths and altars, the best examples of which can be seen at Carnac.  Brittany is within easy access of the UK and Ireland and offer great camping holidays with a difference. We offer one campsite in Brittany Camping Le Panoramic

Why Go Camping in Brittany?

Sea and Surf

With its Atlantic coastline, Brittany’s coastal towns and villages have developed strong seafaring traditions. Brittany’s rugged coastline is at its most spectacular between Pointe du Raz and Perros-Guirec where high tides create waves of up to 30 metres, making the area popular with surfers and windsurfers. Along the north coast of Brittany, known as the Emerald Coast, towering cliffs give way to a more relaxed landscape of flat sandy beaches. As the coast line becomes more accessible and inviting, the number of campsites in Brittany increases.

Regional Cuisine

Food in the region is characterised by Brittany’s strong links with the sea and menus are often packed with the area’s famous Atlantic oysters and mussels. Seafood aficionados head to Vannes and nearby coastal towns of Saint Brevin les Pins and St. Michel-Chef-Chef to sample shell fish fresh from the sea. Unusually for France, Brittany is not a cheese producing region but instead is famous for its salted butter and scrumpy cider. Locals will tell visitors that they have not experienced true Brittany until they have tried delicious Galettes (savoury pancakes) or au beurre sale (salted caramels).

Natural Attractions

The attractions of the Brittany region are its outstanding natural beauty, rich history and picturesque seaside towns. For families looking to go camping in Brittany the region offers an inviting combination of evocative landscapes and family friendly attractions such as Le Mont St Michel and the famous Oceanopolis marine complex and aquarium at Brest. With easy access via St Malo and Roscoff ferry ports and Dinard, Lorient and Nantes airports, a camping holiday in Brittany is within everyone’s reach.
